St. Phillips Artists Guild is located in the Norwalk Arts District on France Street. Originally part of the St. Phillips, the building was repurposed to create artist studios.
The Lockwood family built the house in the 1800s and called it Oakhill. The 15 rooms of the original building now house twenty-eight artists that work in a variety of disciplines. Founding artists; Duvian Montoya, Dave Morico, Frank Chiappetta, Steve Bagnell, and Ralph DiMarco created the space in 2008.
Over the years, SPAG has collaborated with local galleries and artists in a number of events, from art festivals and group exhibits to First Fridays, murals, and painted traffic boxes.
SPAG was recognized by the Norwalk Preservation Trust in May 2009 with an award for its work in recapturing some of the mansion’s former splendor.
